Choosing the correct fume hood for chemical use to reduce the exposure to dangerous vapors and fumes and to prevent chemical spillage or unexpected reactions is critical. Labscape was recently selected to design and install a fume hood for a medical equipment manufacturer. This manufacturer does acid etching of medical parts. Acid etching is a method whereby a strong acid is used to cut into another substance, such as metal, glass or cement. An example of medical parts which use this system are surgical cutting tools. Acid etching can give surgical knifes a very sharp blade.

Fume hoods are required in any type of laboratory where hazardous materials are being studied or tested. Safety of the user from fumes, dust, debris and contaminants is essential. Not all fume hoods are alike and proper installation and maintenance are key to ventilation.
Coming out of our factory recently for a client was this Air Foil Fume Hood with a Stainless Interior Liner. Notice on the picture below instead of having a square face, there is gentle slope on the bottom front air foil that reduces turbulent air patterns and increases laboratory safety.
Labscape offers a wide variety of fume hoods which include:

In commemoration of 100 years of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, the Whiting School of Engineering, located in Columbia, MD has published a book entitled A Century of Innovation. This book focuses on the school’s achievements and the discoveries, experiences and impact the engineers at JHU have had over the past 100 years. The school has consistently ranked in the top 15 of engineering schools.
Recently, Labscape was chosen to work directly with the engineering department at JHU to develop a design and manufacture a custom-sized fume hood. The description of the actual product is as follows:
12’ Labscape Walk-In Fume Hood with a steel powder coat-acid resistant finish, explosion proof light & light fixture options and fume hood fire suppression system.

The Biotech Industry is one of the fastest growing industries today and a majority of these companies are experiencing double digit growth each year. The race for the next best treatment or cure is on.
With the rapid increase in growth, the need for lab space is expanding. This demand for more lab space is leading to the idea of a hybrid or blended space for both the lab and office. Generally, biotech companies have fewer employees, lessening the need for office space. This combination allows for more space for research and development, while accommodating everyday office functions.
These hybrid spaces are designed with the proper electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, floor strength and ceiling height requirements to handle lab equipment. These specially designed spaces allow for a smooth move if one company chooses to leave and another moves in.
At Labscape, not only can we plan and design your hybrid space, we can provide the necessary lab equipment and furniture. We have a wide variety of products to meet the needs of any laboratory setting.

There are currently two main methods for extracting THC from Cannabis; they consist of CO2 and Butane. Both of these extraction methods work to refine THC into other applications. However the butane extraction method is usually better at stripping the glands of the leaves to break down into Butane Hash Oil (BHO). The butane extraction method is significantly more volatile than the CO2 method. Laboratories have been exploding across the country as people try to use this method with minimal knowledge on the subject and unregulated equipment. The smallest spark in an area where a butane extraction is being conducted can cause a massive explosion. For this butane extraction method to be successful a properly ventilated and installed system is required. Labscape offers extraction containment systems that are up to par with fire-safety regulations across the nation. These state of the art extraction containment systems also comes with a factory trained installation team to assure safety while working with whatever extraction method your laboratory wishes to conduct!
